Decking Cleaning

Decking and other wooden structures are seen more and more these days in many gardens across Cornwall and Devon. This demand for decking has been fuelled in part by gardening programmes on television that use decked areas as design enhancements to improve and change the layout of a garden.

Unfortunately, although a newly installed decked area can look great at first it can soon deteriorate in the damp, warm UK climate. Green algae and moss in particular make maintenance a problem. If the surface is not kept free from algae and other forms of surface growth, the wood can become quite trecherous to walk on at times, especially when wet.

The disadvantage of trying to clean decking using a domestic pressure washer is that they can leave marks on the wood, especially softer wood. If the jets of water are too concentrated in one area the wood may splinter. Any surface marks can be very hard to hide or remove once formed. The good news is that we have special rotary headed attachments to pressure wash the decking and not cause any damage to the surface.
